Amanda’s Barnes & Nobel Book Haul!

Hi, lovelies! I’m just stopping by this evening to share with you all the things I got this weekend at the Barnes & Nobel Book Haul Blowout! I have been looking forward to this all weekend! I think I picked up quite a few books that I’m really excited about. So, expect to see them in any of my TBR’s in the near future.

I picked up a few that I was missing from the always wonderful Rick Riordan. I was very excited to see these on sale because I never see his books on sale!

The Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan

The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan

I also grabbed a few that I’ve seen so many others talking about. I wanted to get them so I could understand why everyone is talking about them!

Furyborn Kingsbane by Claire Legrand

White Stag by Kara Barbieri

Girls With Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young

There were a few that I’ve seen before but I haven’t really heard anything about them aside from what they’re about.

Voices: The Final Hours of Joan of Arc by David Elliott

The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe by Ally Condie

Sky Without Stars by Jessica Brody

And finally, I picked up two books by the same author that I’ve never heard of but the synopsis sounded pretty interesting for both of them.

H2O by Virginia Bergin

The XY by Virginia Bergin

The next book is the one full-price book I bought and I’m blaming entirely on Heathur from Aphrodite Reads because she does nothing but sing its praises. It’s going to be a buddy read for the upcoming round of ZodiacAThon.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

The graphic novel was an impulse buy. I went over to the graphic novel section to look for the next volume of a series I started recently but instead, I found something I never knew I needed. I don’t play video games pretty much ever, but a friend of mine got me into Life is Strange and I’m so glad.

Life is Strange: Dust by Emma Vieceli, Claudia Leonardi, & Andrea Izzo

So, there you have it. These are all of the books I picked up today on my trip to Barnes and Nobel. I have to thank my dad because this haul was a belated birthday gift from him. I cannot wait to dive into these new books, but for now, they have found a new home on my TBR bookshelves.

Keep on reading lovelies, Amanda.

Antonia’s July Book Haul

Amanda, terrible influence that she is, recently introduced me to the site Book Outlet which sells really cheap books. The only problem is it’s a little random what books they have in stock and they’re usually in very limited quantities. Amanda got a gorgeous boxed set that was gone by the time I looked for it that I’m a little disappointed about but I still went a little crazy and bought twelve books. I won’t make this post too long but here’s my beautiful new treasures:

I was lucky enough to find two full series (it can be kind of hit or miss with Book Outlet). Both of these I initially looked at because of the pretty covers.

The Everneath series by Brodi Ashton sounded like a cool Hades/ Persephone retelling though looking at reviews now that part is a little misleading. Most people are saying it’s a little more like Orpheus/ Eurydice which I certainly don’t mind.

The Revenants series by Amy Plum caught me with the revenants idea. The summary doesn’t exactly explain everything so I’m really excited to see exactly what kind of supernatural creature they are.

The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica by James A. Owen is a series I keep going back to since I first saw it years ago but I never got around to actually getting it. Recently I’ve seen a few reviews that convinced me to finally get into them. Unfortunately the website lied to me so I got books 1, 3 and 4. Hopefully I find the second book soon.

The Girl With the Make-Believe Husband by Julia Quinn I got because Quinn’s always been an auto-buy author of mine. I love regency romances and Quinn’s are always laugh out loud funny.

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones is a story of a girl and a goblin king; a bit like the movie Labyrinth, though I’ve been assured by other reviews that the differences outweigh the similarities. I’m extremely excited for this one even though I couldn’t get the second book.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. Amanda’s been talking about this one for so long that I had to get it. It seems like a really cool concept and I just have to know what all the hype is about over the Darkling.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. I thought the good vs. evil and how to decide which one you’ll be was really interesting. Amanda highly recommended this author as well so I have high hopes for this one.

Well that’s all my new babies. Have you read any of these books? Any suggestions for other new books I should get? Leave your thoughts in the comments and thanks for reading.

Libary Book Haul

Hi lovelies!

I’m back with another library book haul! Last week my husband kicked me out of the house and told me to go do something fun, something just for me. So obviously I went to the library because really what else would I do?

This library adventure was a little harder because I wanted to find a book that would work for the Tome Topple Readathon that just started. I also didn’t want to get too many books because I haven’t finished all of the books from my last library haul yet.

So without any further delay, this weeks library haul!

library haul 2

Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst – This book I snagged off of the library’s “Pride Month” feature. It sounds super interesting. And the cover is super pretty too.

The Diviners by Libba Bray – This book is this visits choice because of the authors last name. Libba Bray will fill a slot in the B category in our master review list, which is one of a few letters that we have no reviews listed under. This series sounds super interesting and also fits the bill for the Tome Topple Readathon. So look out for my review in the new few weeks.

Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray – The second in The Diviners series. These books are giant and I mostly just couldn’t stop myself.

Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray – The third and most recently released book in the Diviners Series. I doubt I will get through all three of these books for Tome Topple, but a girl can have dreams right?

This is my library haul for this week! Too many books, as usual. Have you read any of these books? Is there anything you think I should be grabbing from my local library? Keep an eye out for my reviews of these stories within the next few weeks.

Keep on reading lovelies, Amanda.

Amanda’s June Book Haul

Hi, lovelies!

So this month I went a liiiittle crazy buying books. Between Book Outlet’s fabulous sale where I bought 20+ new books and the discovery of the magic that is a local used bookstore (there’s three within fifteen minutes of my house!), I ended up with quite the book haul for this month.

I’ve never done a book haul post before so this is what we’re going to do. I’m going to put some pictures below of all of my new pretty books. I’m not going to talk about every single book because that would make this post entirely too long, but I am going to mention a few that I’m most excited to read in the upcoming month.

Let’s get down to it, here are all my new shiny pretty babies.

The Book Jumper by Mechthild Glaser – The summary of this book sounds so interesting I couldn’t help but buy it. It’s high on my TBR list for July. I’m excited to get into the story. It’s a book that’s been translated from German which I think is super interesting.

Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow – This was a Target find for me. I’ve seen several bookish friends read this and give it rave reviews. I’m excited to sink my teeth into it. I haven’t read enough realistic books lately.

Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman – Shusterman is an author that I love more and more everytime I read another one of his books. I managed to pick up this book with the Book Outlet sale. It’s won a few awards and sounds like a really powerful story.

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling – I found the whole series (except for book seven) at one of the local bookstores I found around my town recently. I stupidly sold my full series set before I moved a few years ago and have regretted it since. So when I found the (almost) full set all matching and hardcover I just couldn’t resist.

The Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin – I have heard so many good things about this trilogy. I’m super duper excited to read these books and will for sure be getting to them in July. When I found the boxed set on sale at Book Outlet I knew I had to have them.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – This series is one that a few bookish friends I know have started to read for the first time (Yes I’m talking about you Ebru @ EBS and Her Reads) so again, when I saw the boxed set on Book Outlet I knew I had to buy it and add it to my TBR for a reread soon.

This is my haul for the month of June! What did you haul this month? Did we buy any of the same books? What books don’t you see that I definitely should have bought?

Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments and as always,

Keep on reading lovelies, Amanda.

Libray Book Haul

Hi lovelies!

Antonia and I have decided that we’re going to be posting book haul posts (once in a while.) We don’t usually buy books too often because books are expensive and we both have bills to pay and what not. So I came up with the idea to do Library Book Hauls!

So, we will be starting to post this new feature. I hope you guys all like it because I’m super excited to share with you my library finds! I just got settled after moving across the country. So finally I had time to find my new local library and sign up for a library card. Boy, was it exciting! My new library is so big and beautiful and everyone that works there was super friendly. I’m happy to have found such a great library.

Okay, who wants to know what I found this week?

library haul june 16.jpg

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon – I grabbed this one because my sister told me I should read it. She doesn’t read often, so I don’t always listen to her. I also wanted to see what all the hype was about and read this before I end up seeing the movie.

As I descended by Robin Talley – I picked this one up off a “Pride Month” feature. It sounds a little spooky but in a good way.

Roseblood by A.G. Howard – I read (and own) the Splintered Series by this same author. This one is supposed to be a Phantom of the Opera kind of story. I never saw the movie, but I liked this author’s last series so I figure I’ll probably like this book too.

Overdrive by Dawn Ius – While I was walking through the shelves  of the young adult section wondering if there were more books on my TBR list that I should look for I decided not to add to my ever going TBR, but instead to pick a book with an author who has a last name that starts with a letter we don’t have filled in for our master review list. I was close to the authors with the letter I and saw this book. The description sounds interesting so I went for it. If I like this book, I’m going to do this every library visit, pick one book with an author whose name will fill an empty letter on our list.

This is my library haul for this week! Have you read any of these books before? If so, let me know what you thought of them! Are there any books you think I should pick up at my next library visit? If so, let me know in the comments!

Keep on reading lovelies, Amanda.
