This month I only managed to read two graphic novels but they were both super sweet and heartwarming. See more of my thoughts below.
Heartstopper Vol. 1 by Alice Oseman
I have heard nothing but good things about this graphic novel. I’m not feeling well this week and a nice sweet story was the perfect thing for me while snuggling in the couch with some tea and some soup. This was so sweet and heartwarming and exactly what I needed. I loved both Nick and Charlie. I love that Charlie was sure of his identity and the love he knew he deserved. But I think Nick was my favorite. Getting to see him learn more about his sexual preference and that maybe he was into both genders was interesting and I thought it was really well done. I liked how emotions were portrayed through the art. The art in general was on the simpler side, not a lot of details, just enough to tell the story. I really enjoyed that. Overall, I definitely loved this one. But the ending killed me and I’m going to pick up Volume two now.
Heartstopper Vol. 2 by Alice Oseman
I’m writing this review and wiping away the tears I cried in the final pages. I loved this. I liked the first book, but I loved this second volume. The positivity and empowerment that was showered on Nick for discovering who he really was and accepting/being willing to share that part of himself with the world was just so sweet and wholesome. I loved seeing Charlie and Nick’s relationship develop. But my absolute favorite parts were the ones that involved their families. I loved Charlie’s sister and Nicks mom. Everything about this story was just so sweet and kind and heartwarming.

Keep on reading lovelies, Amanda.
